The global GTPA online study day brings together clinical experts, researchers, educators and people with lived experience to explore current evidence and practical approaches across the tracheostomy pathway. The programme examines best practice in percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy, ventilator weaning in intensive care, the emerging role of artificial intelligence in tracheostomy education, and strategies to support communication, laryngeal rehabilitation and decannulation.
Sessions also consider pulmonary health and heat and moisture exchangers from both clinical and patient perspectives, with opportunities for discussion and questions throughout the day. Designed for healthcare professionals involved in tracheostomy care—including clinicians working in critical care, respiratory medicine, neurology, neurorehabilitation, speech and language therapy, nursing and multidisciplinary education—the course supports evidence-informed decision-making and collaborative, patient-centred practice.
