This course provides a dynamic and practical look at the principles, indications, and clinical use of one-way speaking valves (OWSVs) for patients with a tracheostomy. Learners gain valuable insights of how these valves work, when they should be introduced, and how different valve designs can be matched to the needs of both ventilated and non-ventilated patients.

This engaging content highlights the integration of Heat and Moisture Exchangers (HMEs) to strengthen pulmonary health, paired with a clear, step-by-step framework for assessing candidacy, fitting the valve, and integrating it safely into everyday clinical practice. The course also brings clarity to the use of OWSVs within the decannulation pathway, helping clinicians distinguish when it may be appropriate to use.
