Building Consensus in Laryngectomy Dysphagia: CSE and VFSS Frameworks
Join Speech-Language Pathologists Sarah Wilson and Dr Clare Burns, authors of studies exploring consensus on conducting Clinical Swallow Examination (CSE) and Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) post-laryngectomy. This session unveils the agreed tasks, measures and observations identified in multi-round eDelphi surveys with experienced laryngectomy clinicians across 6 countries. Attendees will gain knowledge of these preliminary frameworks to support assessment and guide patient care in laryngectomy-related dysphagia.
Time
January 20, at 12:00-13:00 Central European Time (CET)
Learning objectives:
- Outline the eDelphi methodology applied to establish the preliminary CSE and VFSS frameworks.
- Discuss the consensus CSE and VFSS items and their categorization into core components in the assessment of laryngectomy dysphagia.
- Describe the application of these preliminary frameworks in clinical practice, including a structured approach to incorporating the consensus items with patient reported outcomes to inform patient-centered care.
- Explore potential benefits for research application and future directions for this work.
