05/04/2023

Online

event

Laryngectomy patients often complain of dysphagia. It is an under-rated problem.
Surgical techniques employed during a total laryngectomy can have a significant
impact on the patient’s voice as well as swallowing function. This webinar provides
an overview of surgical techniques for total laryngectomy and neopharyngeal
reconstruction as well as dysphagia assessment and treatment techniques.
Incidence, causes, prevention and (surgical) treatment options of post-laryngectomy
dysphagia will also be presented. Finally, compensatory techniques, dietary changes
and therapeutic techniques to improve outcomes will be discussed.
