Provox ActiValve®

Provox ActiValve has been designed to help in case of short device lifetime of Provox or Provox2, caused by

  • early leakage through the prosthesis due to candida overgrowth
  • leakage through the prosthesis due to negative pressure in the PE segment, i.e the valve inside the (conventional) prosthesis opens inadvertently during swallowing or inhalation.

The valve flap and valve seat of the Provox ActiValve prosthesis are made of a candida resistant material. To help prevent inadvertent opening, Provox ActiValve is available in three opening forces: Light, Strong and XtraStrong. The Provox ActiValve should be considered after a patient has experienced approximately 5 consecutive short durations of use of Provox (1) or Provox2 prostheses (shorter than 4 to 8 weeks). Provox ActiValve is NOT intended for primary insertion at the time of surgery.
