KURZ launches new FlexiBAL tympanoplasty prosthesis

News in middle ear prostheses

The new CliP Partial FlexiBAL® from KURZ Medizintechnik, with a micro ball joint in the headplate has a mobile joint that causes the headplate to move with the tympanic membrane. Tests have validated that these movements do not mitigate acoustic effectiveness as the prosthesis headplate and the CliP® remain in stable contact with the tympanic membrane and the stapes capitulum.

Benefits:

  • Integrated micro ball joint automatically adjusts the prosthesis headplate to the angle of the tympanic membrane during placement
  • Automatic balancing in response to level changes of the tympanic membrane
  • Standardized safe coupling on stapes capitulum with proven CliP Design
  • Pure titanium for maximum biocompatibility
  • Tested future MRI safety up to 7.0 Tesla

Note: this product is not available in the USA and Canada.

About KURZ Medizintechnik
KURZ was the first company to introduce titanium prostheses to the otology market. In 1994 KURZ Medizintechnik launched their first versions of pure titanium grade 2 middle ear prostheses. The prostheses have been carefully developed in accordance with important criteria for a superior product. All features have been thoroughly evaluated in test models and experimental studies.

Titanium, which is available in different grades of purity, has proven to have excellent biocompatibility and superior mechanical characteristics. KURZ only utilizes high-quality pure titanium, with the most superior mechanical properties, such as elasticity, stability and stiffness.
