World Voice Day in Portugal
Atos Medical celebrates the day of the voice
The World Voice Day is a worldwide annual event to celebrate the “human voice” and the importance of vocal health, learning and maintenance. World Voice Day started in 1999 as a combined effort of otolaryngologists and Speech-Language-Pathologists from America and Europe. Professor Mario Andrea from Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, one of our Provox reference centers in Portugal, has been one of the doctors most strongly involved in the organization and development of all events related with this “Day”, ever since the start in 1999.
In Portugal, this year’s World Voice Day (on April 16th) was celebrated with activities in both the medical and entertainment fields. In Lisbon, the Santa Maria Hospital organized a free medical check focused on throat cancer detection; in the entertainment field, radio and TV shows with actors singing, talking and discussing voice value and -care were arranged under the theme “Love your Voice”. Just like last year, Atos Medical sponsored this event in Portugal, as we feel strongly that spreading knowledge is an important responsibility when “Leading the way in ENT”.
