Atos Medical to acquire French medical technology company Collin Laryngologie

Atos Medical AB has signed an agreement to acquire 80% of the shares in the French medical technology company Collin Laryngology SAS from the seller Collin SA. The agreement further stipulates that Atos Medical will acquire the remaining shares on June 30, 2011. The deal is scheduled to be closed on June 30, 2010.

Collin SA is Atos Medical’s exclusive distributor in France since many years, and their work have paved the way for future expansion of Atos Medical’s rehabilitation products for patients who have had surgery due to laryngeal cancer. The sales growth of Atos products in France the last few years has varied between 17% and 37%.

Collin Laryngologie employs around 15 people, who work with marketing, sales, training and distribution of various tracheostomy and laryngectomy products. This acquisition is the largest that Atos Medical has undertaken and is very important for our company due to the fact that France has one of the highest laryngeal cancer rate per capita in all of western Europe. The acquisition will provide direct contact with prescribers of products as well as with patients in France, leading to a closer collaboration with the market when developing new products, and to better ensuring a future market growth. Collin Laryngologie also markets Atos Medical’s products in other French speaking countries, such as Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Collin Laryngologie is centrally located in the Paris metropolitan area.

Atos Medical will with this acquisition significantly strengthen our position in Europe with a new organization covering the Spanish, Portuguese, Belgian, Dutch, German, British, Swiss, Swedish and French markets. Atos Medical also has a subsidiary in the USA since 2000, and we are represented in an additional 50 countries through exclusive distributors.
