TympoVent Ventilation Tubes
Ventilation tubes are used to help reduce ear infections, or to drain fluid from behind the eardrum.
The TympoVent ventilation tubes are made from different materials; silicone, titanium, fluoroplastic or gilded silver. The features of each material are mentioned below, for a full selection of tubes please consult our TympoVent Brochure.
Silicone
Fully cured silicone rubber elastomer is one of the materials used for manufacturing TympoVent ventilation tubes. This material has been used extensively in medical devices thanks to its smoothness and elasticity.

Fluoroplastic
This material is highly regarded by otologists for its smooth texture. TympoVent tubes made of fluoroplastic are available in white or blue color.

Metal
Titanium
Titanium has a clinical history of biocompatibility from orthopedic and dental applications. A very light material with excellent corrosion resistance.

The gilded silver tubes have been used in central Europe for many years.
